farmers in large numbers from across the district gathered in front of the Collectorate along with tractors and trolleys filled with stubble, on Wednesday. The protest was sparked by the district administration’s directive to file FIRs against those burning stubble. The farmers, led by Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of Farmers’ Union, Raghvendra Singh Patel, demanded that the administration address the issue of stubble burning. During the meeting with district officials, farmers emphasised the need for a solution to stubble burning problem. Patel said that the district administration had discussed the issue seriously and Collector Deepak Saxena, instructed officials to create an ideal model for stubble disposal. He further stated that attempts to defame farmers in pretext of stubble burning should be stopped and that main causes of pollution industries and vehicles should be addressed instead, as stubble burning by farmers was not the primary cause of pollution. District President Ramdas Patel informed that the farmers were particularly angered by the directive to file FIRs for stubble burning.

Hundreds of farmers from all tehsils and villages participated in the protest and presented their demands peacefully to the administration. As three or four stubble-filled trolleys arrived at the Collector’s office, the local intelligence alerted the administration and immediate instructions were given to prevent the vehicles from entering the city. The administration urged the farmers to stop the vehicles, as their entry could cause disorder. The Farmers’ Union, in response, agreed to the administration’s request and directed all farmers not to bring their stubble-filled trolleys into the city.
