VIDARBHA boys found their mojo and piled up 389 runs in their first innings against Uttar Pradesh in their Group D match of the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
At close on Day 2 of the four-day tie, UP were 106-3. They trail Vidarbha by 283 runs with seven first innings wickets standing.
If Tushar Suryavanshi compelled attention with a sparkling 101 on Day 1, Shree Choudhary stole the limelight on Friday.
He finished with a brilliant unbeaten 136 off 293 balls, hitting 16 boundaries and a six as UP bowlers toiled for 136 overs.
Vidarbha innings was also bolstered by a quickfire 60 off 67 balls by the in-form Vedant Dighade, while skipper Devansh Thakkar and Sanskar Chavate contributed 41 and 34 runs, respectively.
Vidarbha bowlers then struck two early blows with Chavate and Parth Khure dismissing the two UP openers with just six runs on the board. Aman (64*) and captain Bhavy Goyal (34) added 83 runs for the third wicket to revive the UP innings. Thakkar dismissed the latter towards the end of the day’s play, leaving UP with an uphill task.
