Recarpeting will cover roads outside SEZ
Finally, the long pending work of recarpeting the ROB and some roads in MIHAN (outside Special Economic Zone) has begun. The work order was allotted much earlier in the month of July. Unfortunately, rains had stalled the work. Now, the work has begun and it is expected to be completed within next 15 days.
In July this year, the work order was sanctioned and the cost was estimated to be around Rs 8 crore. Tenders were floated and M/s D C Gurubaxani got the work. Accordingly, the work began 20 days ago. According to sources in Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), the contractor will do the work at ROB as well as at the road that goes towards Indian Institute of Management (IIM), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mahindra Bloomdale, Suraj Eye Institute. The contractor will look after the mending of the roads outside SEZ.
This time, entire stretch of 10 kms in MIHAN is being recarpeted. MADC had already recarpeted the internal roads near Mahindra Tech, DRAL, TCS and other units.
MIHAN has this bad shaped road for more than 5 years. In 2022, the then President of India Ram Nath Kovind was to visit Indian Institute of Management.
‘The Hitavada’ had raised the issue and questioned whether the bad road would welcome President of India. Still, no effort was made to improve the conditions of the road.
At present, MIHAN is housing institutions like AIIMS, IIM, Infosys, Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Air India MRO, AAR Indamer , Patanjali and some others. Some more big industry groups are planning to start their ventures in MIHAN. According to sources, the poor infrastructural facilities like bad roads have compelled some industries to have a second thought.
The bad impression begins when one takes the bridge from Wardha Road that reaches MIHAN. The layer
of the road has come off
as it remained neglected since it was constructed
15 years ago. This is
one aspect which makes
people realise what has
become of this ambitious project. Road is the most important aspect that creates the first impression in anyone’s mind. From the condition of road, the stakeholder decides whether to go ahead or not.
Fortunately, the new team of MADC has realised this lacuna and taken up the work of road carpeting.
