THE Nagpur duo of Nagpur’s Tiaana Thakkar and Solapur’s Shlok Aland pocketed girls and boys singles titles respectively in the MSLTA Suhana Smart-10’s Circuit Tennis Tournament that concluded on Sunday at the NDHTA Ramnagar courts. Tiaana won the girls singles title by defeating Swara Padgilwar 4-2, 4-0 whereas Nagpur’s Kabir Panchmatia went down fighting to Shlok in the boys singles final 4-0, 4-0. Both finals were interesting as the young champs displayed grit and determination, rallied and placed the ball all over the courts. It was a treat to watch and players were cheered by the audience for every point scored.

 

In the boys semi-finals, Shlok got the better of Pune’s Aarush Deshpande whereas Kabir beat Mohammed Nawaz. In the prize distribution function conducted by Vijay Naidu, Treasurer NDHTA, parents expressed thanks to the organisers for hosting such a fine tournament. Trophies and certificates were handed over by VP Ashok Bhiwapurkar and Secretary Dr Sudhir Bhiwapurkar. NDHTA gave gift hampers to the winners and runners-up. Vishal Landge conducted the tournament. RESULTS Boys semi-finals: Shlok Aland beat Aarush Deshpande 6-2; Kabir Panchmatia beat Mohammed Nawaz 6-1. Final: Shlok Aland beat Kabir Panchmatia 4-0, 4-0. Girls singles finals: Tiaana Thakkar beat Swaraa Padgilwar 4-2, 4-0.
