Rash driving of luxury car claimed the life of a 3-year-old boy at Ukhri Tiraha under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Pranit Agrawal (3), son of Saurabh Agrawal and Surbhi Agrawal, a resident of Darhai Chowk in Kotwali.
The incident took place when Saurabh Agrawal (38), along with his wife Surbhi, and their 3-year-old son, Pranit Agrawal, were traveling on an electric scooter from Ekta Chowk towards Ukhri Tiraha. Surabhi was driving the scooter, while Saurabh was seated behind with their child.
As they reached a petrol pump near Ukhri Tiraha, a car coming from behind rammed into their scooter and they fell down on the road. In the mishap, their son was thrown into the air and fell on the ground. The collision resulted in injuries to Saurabh’s wife in her leg, to him on his back and to their child who sustained critical injuries on his head, shoulder and body.
The driver stopped the car after the accident but then, in attempt to escape from the spot, he reversed the car but drove over the electric scooter and the child, fleeing the scene at high speed. Saurabh managed to note the car’s registration number, which was MP-20CA-4438.
Some onlookers named Bablu Tamrakar and Adarsh, rushed the injured to hospital for medical treatment where the child was declared brought dead. Kotwali police have registered a case under Sections 106(1), 281 and 125(A) of the BNS while a rigorous search is underway to identify and apprehend the accused driver.
On the other hand, relatives of deceased along with others staged demonstration in front of Kotwali police station and raised demand for apprehending the accused. Taking a serious note, senior police officers reached the spot and managed to convince the demonstrators for ending the demonstration and assured that the accused will be soon behind the bars.
