Cooch Behar
Vidarbha boys wrested the initiative from the hosts Uttarakhand by restricting them to 223-8 on the opening day of their four-day Cooch Behar Trophy match at Highlanders Sports Academy Ground, Kashipur, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday.
But for a captain's knock of unbeaten 91 from Lakshya Raichandani, Uttarakhand would have been in deeper trouble. Lakshya shared two useful partnerships.
First he added 73 runs for the second wicket with Samarth Semwal (56) and later shared a fifth-wicket stand of 73 runs with Aditya Naithai (36).
Vidarbha bowlers stuck to their task and were rewarded for their perseverance.
Sarthak Dhabadgaonkar (2-24), Sanskar Chavate (2-37) and skipper Devansh Thakkar (2-47) were amongst the wickets.
