Reminding the ruling MahaYuti that it was Congress that was first to introduce social welfare schemes, including financial subsistence for women. After suffering a drawback in the Lok Sabha elections, the ruling combine came up with ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ in Maharashtra, alleged Bhupesh Baghel, Congress Observer for Vidarbha Region, here on Friday. Countering the argument that financial schemes for populace are a drain on a State's resources, Baghel said when Rs 16 lakh crore of outstanding loans of industries were waived off, not a single noise of dissent was heard. Further, in the past, MNREGA, and other such schemes proved to be major advantages for society and the Government also. During Covid-19, it was a life-line for the rural populace. Constitution, needed to check their own credentials. He referred to the Supreme Court observations which said that, calling a floor test by the then Governor, which led to ouster of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Government was wrong and further the cobbling together of MahaYuti itself, had been dubbed illegal. So of all the parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has no right to speak on matters related to the Constitution. Baghel also referred to joining of ruling coalition by Ajit Pawar after split in Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), saying it reflects the double standard of BJP.

As to targeting of Rahul Gandhi’s attendance of Samvidhan Sammelan in city, Baghel said it was Congress which has suffered the most due to Naxalism. Therefore, there is not an iota of truth in BJP’s claim that urban Naxal supporters were behind Samvidhan Sammelan. To a query about Yogi Adityanath’s new terminology, the ex-Chhattisgarh Chief Minister said its necessary to promote unity and not talk of divisiveness. Only bridging the gaps would end the divisions in society. Historically, castes have existed in society for as long as one can remember, across all religions and hence, Gandhi’s demand for caste census is necessary to determine exact status of each of theses groups. Vikas Thakre, President, Nagpur City Congress Committee, Atul Londhe, State spokesperson, and other Congress leaders were also present.
