Special DGP Shrivastava asks officials to focus on quick resolution of POCSO cases

Special Director General of Police (Women Security/AJJAK), Pragya Richa Shrivastava (IPS) chaired a review meeting on crime related to women and Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) was held at Jabalpur Zone Police Headquarters, on Friday. The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including Anil Singh Kushwaha, IG Jabalpur Zone, Sachin Atulkar, DIG Chhindwara Range, TK Vidyarthi, DIG Jabalpur Range, SP Jabalpur Sampat Upadhyay, SP Katni Abhijeet Kumar Ranjan, SP Chhindwara Manish Khatri, SP Seoni Sunil Mehta, SP Narsinghpur Mrigakhi Deka, SP Pandhurna, Sundersingh Kanesh and other officials in charge of the Ajak Range and DSP Women’s Safety and others.
 
 
During the meeting, Pragya Richa Srivastava instructed the officials to focus on the swift resolution of pending cases under the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) and other women-related crimes, ensuring that these cases are quickly processed and presented before the court. She directed the officers to expedite Operation Muskaan to find missing minor girls and identifying “black spots” (vulnerable areas) in police jurisdictions where crimes against women are likely to occur. These areas should be equipped with CCTV cameras with coordination from local bodies such as the municipality and Gram Panchayats. Officers were also instructed to implement the witness protection plan, providing security to witnesses and ensuring that they testify in courts. For POCSO cases, investigations must be completed within 60 days, with the charge sheet submitted to the court without delay. The review also highlighted the pending AJJAK related complaints, and the police were instructed to complete the investigation of complaints received from commissions like the Scheduled Castes Commission, Tribal Commission, Human Rights Commission, and other government bodies within 15 days. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to improve the safety of women and SC/ST communities, enhance the investigation processes and provide better support systems for victims of crime.
