RAIPUR,
MMI Narayana Hospital, Raipur, has successfully transformed the life of a young woman with a complex fertility-preserving surgery. The patient, of childbearing age, sought treatment for excessive menstrual bleeding and anemia, which significantly impacted her health and quality of life.
Upon preoperative evaluation, doctors identified multiple fibroids, non-cancerous growths in the uterus as the root cause of her condition. Uterine fibroids, which can vary in size, are a common cause of heavy menstrual bleeding, abdominal pain and infertility in women.
Consultant Gynecologist at MMI Narayana Hospital Dr Manisha Sharma highlighted the complexity of the case, explaining that preoperative optimisation was crucial due to the potential risk of excessive bleeding during surgery. During the procedure, the surgical team discovered an astonishing 17 fibroids of varying sizes in the patient’s uterus. Each was meticulously removed, ensuring the preservation of the uterus and, with it, the patient’s fertility.
Dr Manisha Sharma said, “This fertility-preserving surgery was aimed at maintaining the patient’s ability to conceive in the future. It was a challenging procedure, but our team ensured the best outcome.”
The surgery’s success was a result of a collaborative effort. Anaesthesia Specialist Dr Rakesh Chand and his team played a vital role in managing anesthesia during the procedure, while Critical Care Specialist Dr Pradeep Sharma and his team provided impeccable post-operative care.
Facility Director of the hospital Ajit Bellamkonda said that the surgery highlights medical expertise of the hospital and its commitment to patient care. MMI Narayana Hospital continually strives to set highest standards in patient care with advanced medical facilities. The patient’s successful recovery underscores MMI Narayana Hospital’s commitment to providing advanced and patient-centric healthcare solutions, enabling women to reclaim their health and fertility.
