Fighting with lack of acceptance among a section of Congress leaders, Pradesh Congress Committee President Jitu Patwari on his tour to the State trying to reach out large section of people. He visited Assembly Constituency of Sehore district; Budhni, strong hold of BJP stalwart and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Although, officially he has expressed gratitude to people here for exercising their right to franchise, but an in-depth observation suggests he is following advice of high command who want the State units to be more mobile. He visited various rural areas of the Constituency. where he expressed his gratitude to the voters for the results of the recently concluded Budhni Assembly by-election and for the people of Budhni playing a decisive role in bringing the Congress closer to victory by exercising their right to vote and giving a historic message.

Notably, in recently held bypoll elections, Budhni seat as per the expectations won by BJP but this time the margin was thinner. Ramakant Bhargav, defeated Congress’ Rajkumar Patel by a margin of 13,901 votes. Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the leader won with the highest-ever victory margin and as well as the vote count. He secured over 1.64 lakh votes and won by a margin of 1.04 lakh votes from this seat in the Assembly elections. Buyont by Vijaypur by-poll results, where Congress candidate Mukesh Malhotra pulled off a stunning victory against sitting BJP Cabinet Minister and Congress turncoat Ramniwas Rawat, Jitu Patwari is on his tour to State instead being at the State capital most of the time.

Patwari’s visit to some Rajesh Jat’s place in Chhapari village of Budhni to express condolences. Thereafter, he reached Bherunda where he thanked the Congress workers and citizens of Bherunda, Ladkui, Gopalpur block at Sudama Palace Garden for giving a historic message by exercising their right to vote in favour of the Congress. All this suggests that he is trying to consolidate his position within the party after facing humiliating defeat in Lok Sabha elections moreover great exodus from grand old party to saffron belt. Elections are not near in the State. It can be defiantly said that this attempt by PCC Chief is not just to turn into electoral fortune it seems it is more to consolidate his position within the party.
