BJP leader and Minister Girish Mahajan, on Wednesday, repeated the demand for a narco-analysis test of former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, accusing him of being part of a conspiracy to falsely frame him in criminal cases during Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) regime.
Mahajan’s statement came after Congress MLC Shashikant Shinde raised a question in the Legislative Council about a case filed against former DGP Sanjay Pandey, based on a complaint by Sanjay Punmiya.
Mahajan claimed that during Deshmukh’s tenure as Home Minister, some officials including a Government Pleader collaborated to falsely accuse him in a criminal case. He described an interaction where Deshmukh allegedly told him to meet with someone called ‘Mothe Saheb’, but even after this meeting, the attempts to target Mahajan continued.
Mahajan also mentioned an incident in which former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis submitted a pen drive containing video recording of the Government Pleader’s
office.
He said this was part of a larger plan to frame both him and Fadnavis, with Government Pleader and other officials trying to trap them. Mahajan revealed that in 2020, two years after the alleged incident, a case was registered against him in Pune, under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), even though no earlier case had been filed against him.
According to Mahajan, Deshmukh admitted in a meeting that he was under pressure. Mahajan claimed that this conversation was recorded on video, where a Government Pleader told officials to make false charges against him. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is looking into the case, and Mahajan has called for narco tests on both Deshmukh and Eknath Khadse to get to the truth.
The issue was also discussed by MLC Shinde, who condemned the targeting of political leaders through conspiracies and called it it unacceptable. He informed that a case was filed against Punmiya, who has been involved in several fraud cases under the Urban Land Ceiling Act. Shinde has also called for an investigation into former Police Commissioner Parambir Singh and his property dealings.
Opposition leader Ambadas Danve said there were multiple complaints against Town Planning Officer Dilip Gheware, who, along with Punmiya, allegedly pressured officials to sign fake affidavits to target political leaders. Danve has called for immediate Government action on these serious charges.
