Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range, Amresh Mishra, and the newly-appointed Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Lal Umed Singh, convened a meeting with police gazetted officers and station in-charges of Raipur district. The meeting was held at the C-4 building in Civil Line to review strategies for crime control and ensure efficient policing in the district.
During the meeting, the IGP Mishra stressed on resolving all pending cases, especially those over a year old, on a priority basis. He directed immediate registration of FIRs in cybercrime cases, swift action against microfinance companies involved in violations, and prompt arrests following crime registration.
Special focus was placed on addressing complaints related to women and ensuring action under the Pit NDPS Act while tackling drug-related crimes. Officers were instructed to seize drugs while verifying the supply chain and apprehend those involved. The Inspector General also ordered station in-charges to assist nomads and mentally ill individuals in accordance with court directives by sending them to designated reform homes.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Lal Umed Singh stressed the importance of visible policing and urged officers to focus on basic law enforcement practices. He instructed officers to be active in the field during evenings, personally oversee station operations, and ensure patrols are dispatched at night. All station in-charges were directed to maintain constant communication via mainpack sets and official mobile
numbers, which must remain operational at all times. Evening patrols with maximum force were mandated to maintain law and order, and government landline numbers in police stations were to be repaired and kept functional.
Regarding drug control, strict instructions were given to crack down on the sale, storage, and transportation of illegal substances.
The officers were directed to trace and dismantle the supply chain networks behind narcotics and alcohol trafficking.
With the New Year approaching, special measures were discussed to prevent potential disturbances. Officers were instructed to monitor knife-wielding individuals, anti-social elements, habitual offenders, and other miscreants. Regular special campaigns will be conducted to curb such activities.
The officials addressed protocols for handling VIP movements, maintaining public order during protests, and ensuring peaceful demonstrations. IGP Mishra and SP Singh emphasized the need for proactive and effective policing to safeguard public safety and enhance the overall law and order situation in Raipur.
