Department of Forests has developed a walking track inside Seminary Hills near Japanese garden with several unique elements. The walking track passes through mini forest and is inside Seminary Hills area. This path starts from Japanese garden and ends behind Balodyan. The project handled by Public Works Department (PWD) is on the verge of completion. This walking track is a part of Rs 11 crore project that includes redevelopment of Balodyan, Japanese garden and walking track. The works of Balodyan and walking track are almost complete while work of Japanese garden is going on. The walking track is strengthened with murrum properly leveled on the surface. “We want to give the track a natural feeling so we have asked PWD to maintain its essence, not to construct anything in excess. During a walk one has the facility of washroom, and stairs are made of natural stones.

One will have the feeling of climbing stairs and then walk on natural soil to get complete and proper exercise in the embrace of nature. We had also instructed PWD to see that during work, no tree should be choked,” explained Dr Bharat Singh Hada, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests, Nagpur. Sandeep Chafle, Structural Engineer, PWD who is working under Executive Engineer Abhijeet Kuchewar told The Hitavada, “Forest department has instructed us strictly that we should not cut any tree and not disturb any forest element in the premises. It was very difficult to steer the project but we could do following the instructions of forest department. In last rainy season we were told that the path was slippery and some walkers faced difficulty in walking. But this rainy season rain could not damage the path.” District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar has sanctioned the required amount for the project through District Planning Committee (DPC).

This project is a part of three works including Balodyan, Japanese garden where Government has given Rs 11 crore and work was alloted to Sachin Jain of S A Jain Projects. To encourage more citizens towards walking and conservation of nature, especially youths and students, this track was planned. This nature walk gives the glimpse of the beautiful landscape of the Japanese garden, diverse flora. This is a 3 km track that starts from the gate of Japanese garden and ends behind Balodyan uphill. According to Hada, forest department wants to extend the track further upto 5.5 km. This project is coming up with the budget of Rs 2.5 crore and will be completed completely in record time by December 2024.
