The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is meeting on Saturday at 3 pm at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande hall. The meeting will be attended by all the senior leaders including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Vidarbha Organising Secretary Dr Upendra Kothekar, Vice-President Sanjay Bhende, Ravindra Chavan, all the ministers, MLAs, MLCs, office-bearers. The meeting is likely to focus on the measures to be taken to strengthen the party. One of the factors is increasing the number of party membership.
BJP registered a splendid victory in the State Assembly polls. Now it does not want its members to go into comfort zone. With this thought, the
BJP high command has asked its State unit to convene a meeting and discuss new resolutions, assign works to the office-bearers and workers that would strengthen the party.
The meeting will mainly focus on training its office-bearers to push for membership drive.
A senior BJP functionary told ‘The Hitavada’ on condition of anonymity, “In Delhi, party’s leadership has asked State leadership that the victory registered in Assembly polls is laudable. But party can’t stay stagnant. It needs to keep moving, taking new responsibilities, handling new assignments. Celebrations should end now and focus to be shifted on strengthening the party. The high command has asked to increase the number of members, conduct workshop for the membership drive.”
Senior leaders of the party
will guide the workers on how the membership drive should
be conducted.
“Some workers are not aware how to conduct membership drive. Nobody can force others to join BJP. But members have to let them know as to in what way people can become members, why BJP is different than other parties. Senior leaders will provide tips to the workers regarding membership drive,” said this office-bearer.
