In A horrific incident a gang of four, including a teenager, brutally murdered a father and son in Ramteke Nagar (Toli) in Ajni on Friday evening. The deceased are identified as Vijay Balram Savarkar (54) and his son Mayur (27). Police suspect a culmination of long-standing animosity between the Savarkar and Kurveti families behind the double murder. Savarkars, residents of Lane No. 4, Toli, owned a furniture shop, while Mayur had a criminal record, including a murder charge from 2015. Tensions had been simmering for years between both the families. The attackers include well-known criminals Sandeep Nade, Badal Ganesh Kurveti, Shubham Ganesh Kurveti, a 17-year-old minor, and unknown accused. Nade is involved in gambling, betting, and murder incidents. About three months ago, a dispute arose between Shubham and Mayur. On Thursday, at 4 pm, Shubham was sitting near Sujata Bouddha Vihar near his house and enagaged in playing game on his mobile phone. Mayur arrived and attacked Shubham on head with an iron rod. Somehow, injured Shubham managed to flee.

He reached Ajni Police Station and filed a complaint. The police registered the case but took no concrete action. This emboldened Mayur. On Friday, at around 5.30 pm, Shubham’s brother, Badal, was sitting on the other side of the road in front of Savarkar Furniture. Mayur approached him and, due to the ongoing dispute with Shubham, he struck him on the leg with an iron rod. Upon learning of the attack on their brother, Shubham, Sandeep, a minor, and an unknown accused arrived at the scene. Shubham was armed with a sharp-edged weapon. The accused first stabbed Mayur’s father, Vijay, in the chest. Then they turned on Mayur. The accused fled the scene after attacking both men with sharp weapons. The father and son were laying injured at the scene for around 20 minutes. Ajni police, led by Sr Police Inspector Nitinchandra Rajkumar, quickly rushed to the spot.

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, but tragically, both Vijay and Mayur succumbed to their wounds. An eye-witness told the police that the accused came with the sharp-weapons hiding in their pockets to eliminate Vijay and Mayur. As Mayur had a criminal record, he was trying to establish his dominance in the area. Police have detained a juvenile suspect and initiated a thorough investigation to arrest the remaining assailants.
