In a bid to enhance the city’s development and transform it into a metropolitan, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh convened meetings with various departments of the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, on Friday. During these meetings, the Mayor made several significant decisions aimed at benefiting both the city and its residents, focusing on initiatives vital for city growth and civic welfare.
While reviewing the works of Public Works Department (PWD), Mayor Singh asked senior officials to prioritise city beautification.

Likewise, he instructed the planting of fragrant and aesthetically pleasing plants on road dividers and other beautification projects to enhance the city’s appeal and aim for the top spot in cleanliness rankings.
In a landmark decision, the Mayor announced plans to address waterlogging issues. To provide relief to residents,
especially during the monsoon season, pipelines will be laid adjacent to the L&T nullah for effective water drainage. The move is expected to ease waterlogging problems in the city.
Apart from reviewing the PWD's works, the Mayor also examined the progress of projects under the Garden Department.
A detailed review of the city's crematoriums was conducted and he informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for upgrading seven crematoriums has already been prepared. These upgrades, estimated at Rs 11 crore, are set to modernize and improve facilities at these sites.
The Mayor issued strict instructions to ensure that no compromise is made on the quality of development works under the Corporators Fund. He warned contractors against delays and substandard work, stating that violators would be blacklisted.
