Raipur, Dec 20 Preparations for the much-anticipated Shiv Mahapuran Katha by renowned international storyteller Pandit Pradeep Mishra, scheduled to commence on December 24th at Sejbahar, are in the final stages here. Newly-appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Lal Umed Singh inspected the venue today to review the arrangements and security measures. Meanwhile, representatives from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Friday extended their full support to the organising committee. They commended the event as a significant spiritual endeavour and assured their cooperation in managing services for devotees. Earlier during his visit, SSP Singh held detailed discussions with key members of the organising committee, including Dr Om Prakash Dewangan, Kamal Dewangan, and Vinod Dewangan.

The organisers informed him about the robust security framework in place, involving the deployment of volunteers and bouncers at multiple entry and exit points. Dr Om Prakash Dewangan, State President of the Devangan community, briefed the SSP that more than a dozen gates have been prepared at the venue, each manned by security personnel. Visitors will be allowed entry only after thorough checks to ensure a safe environment for devotees. Special fire-resistant equipment and CCTV cameras have been installed to provide real-time monitoring and prevent any untoward incidents.

Dr Dewangan added that based on the large turnout expected, special provisions are being implemented. Around three dozen teams have been formed to manage different aspects of the event, including health services, food arrangements, accommodation, and transportation. He highlighted that preparations have been guided by past experiences from a similar event held in Amleshwar, with insights from the organising team aiding the planning process. SSP Singh assured the organisers that the police department would provide full support, including deploying adequate resources to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. He also committed to regular inspections of the venue leading up to the event. Kamal Devangan and Dr Om Prakash Devangan expressed gratitude for the collaboration of religious and social organisations, which they believe will enhance the event’s success and create a harmonious atmosphere for the Shiv Mahapuran Katha.
