Senior office-bearers and members of the Sneh Nagar Vikas Samiti have demanded to the district administration, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) and concerned authorities to impose a ban on the movement of heavy vehicles in the Sneh Nagar colony.
The Samiti members said that the increased traffic of heavy vehicles on the Sneh Nagar colony road from P&T Gate No. 4 and the link road has made living conditions in the colony unbearable. Being a residential area, they insist on restricting the movement of heavy vehicles for the safety and well-being of the residents. The committee members have also submitted memorandums to the concerned authorities regarding the serious issue.
The members said that commercial activities in the colony have already surged and the continuous disturbance caused by heavy vehicles has worsened the living conditions. The situation is particularly alarming for senior citizens, many of whom are aged between 70 and 80 and suffer from health conditions such as asthma, hypertension, diabetes, tuberculosis and even cancer.
The Samiti members emphasized that heavy vehicles are contributing to rising air and noise pollution in the area, posing a significant threat to public health. They have demanded immediate action to curb the menace. The members of Sneh Nagar Vikas Samiti warned of staging a massive protest if their concerns are not addressed.
Vinod Dubey, S P Dixit, O P Dave, R S Pandey, R K Jain and others of the Samiti have urged the municipal corporation, police administration and district authorities to take needed action in this matter.
