In an informal talk with the media on Saturday, State Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Rakesh Singh took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying, “Carrying the Constitution in one’s pocket doesn’t make anyone its owner.” The State Minister stated that the Constitution is equal for all and any legal action taken against Rahul Gandhi must be accepted. Rahul above the Constitution? Carrying Constitution around doesn’t make him its custodian. Singh stressed that there is a clear difference between respecting the Constitution and using it as a political tool. He called upon Gandhi to understand this distinction. Singh also accused the Congress party of disrespecting Dr. B R Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party is the first party to give Dr. Ambedkar the recognition he truly deserved. He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah has immense respect for Dr. Ambedkar. In contrast, Congress tried to defeat him in elections and made derogatory remarks. During Congress’s rule, Ambedkar never received the honour he deserved. Highlighting the BJP's efforts, Rakesh Singh credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking significant steps to honour Dr Ambedkar’s legacy. Singh said under PM Modi’s leadership, all sites associated with Dr Ambedkar have been developed, ensuring that he receives the respect he always deserved.
