The second day of the 11th Bhopal Science Fair was marked by a blend of insightful workshops, scientific discussions, and engaging cultural performances. The event began with a student dialogue session, where Dr. Sunil Chaturvedi was the keynote speaker. His address emphasized that science is not confined to labs but is a part of everyday life, stating that “Science is a journey from the unknown to the known.” He elaborated on the role of research in shaping our future and shared historical insights into scientific milestones. Students actively participated, posing thoughtful questions, to which Dr. Chaturvedi provided clear and relatable answers. The fair also featured a significant discussion on groundwater conservation, where Dr. Chaturvedi highlighted the importance of seeing science not as mere facts but as a perspective that drives problem-solving.

A standout moment came with the street play “Cycle Ki Chain” performed by students from the Theatre School of Rabindranath Tagore University. The play creatively addressed issues like health, environmental conservation, and social welfare, leaving the audience reflective and inspired. Dr. Vivek Kumar from the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) delivered a special lecture on “Grassroots Innovations Scouting and Documentation.” He shared success stories of grassroots innovators like Roshanlal Vikram, who developed a technology to solve water issues in sugarcane fields. Dr. Kumar urged students to view science as a lifestyle that fosters innovation and solutions. A workshop for science educators highlighted new methods for making science education more relevant. Sanjay Kaurav emphasized the importance of connecting lessons to real-life situations, while Dr. Ravi Kumar focused on making science engaging through practical methods and by linking it to culture and history. More than 150 scientific models created by students were displayed, showcasing innovations aimed at solving agricultural, health, environmental, and technological challenges.

These models, which provided practical solutions to everyday problems, were highly appreciated by attendees. A special session showcased the traditional iron-smelting techniques of tribal communities, offering attendees a fascinating look into their scientific practices. Dr. Amodh Gupta concluded the day’s events by linking science to Indian culture. He emphasized that science should not just be an academic subject but a philosophy that improves lives and empowers society. The 11th Bhopal Science Fair continues to be a dynamic platform for dialogue between science, innovation, and education, laying the foundation for future growth in these fields. Today’s agenda includes a symposium on “Indian Knowledge Traditions,” workshops for science teachers, science demonstrations by the Aghariya tribe, and exhibitions showcasing student models, agricultural technology, government schemes, and innovations from leading organizations like ISRO, DRDO, CSIR, and others.
