A chain collision of seven vehicles occured on the Shaheed Gowari flyover due to sudden braking by a car driver on Tuesday morning. No fatalities were reported, but several vehicles were severely damaged in the chain accidents. According to police, at around 10.30 am, Waman Bapurao Neware (45), from Matkajhari, Umred, was driving his SUV (MH-31/FC-7747) towards Zero Mile. When he reached near Variety Chowk, a car driver suddenly braked his vehicle. Waman, who was driving behind, couldn’t react in time and crashed into the car. In an attempt to stop, Waman’s vehicle hit the car and caused a chain reaction which involved a car, 4 SUVs, a truck, and an auto rickshaw behind him.

The car driver managed to leave the scene, but the other vehicles were badly damaged. As traffic movement was stopped abruptly, vehicles piled up on the bridge. Sitabuldi police responded to the noise of the crash and rushed to the spot along with the traffic police. But the accident caused a major traffic jam for around 30 minutes. Three drivers went to the Sitabuldi police station to file complaints, while the other drivers left with their damaged vehicles. The police have filed a case against the unknown car driver.
