In a horrific incident, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police, Yogesh Maravi, allegedly murdered his wife, Vinita Maravi, and sister-in-law, Megha Uike, in the Aishbagh area of Bhopal on Tuesday. The accused used a knife to attack the two women, leaving them with multiple stab wounds. The fugitive accused in the double murder case under Aishbagh Police Station has been arrested with the help of Mandla police. Upon receiving the information about the incident, three teams were formed from the police station. Based on the CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the crime scene and information from informants, it was learned that the accused, Yogesh Maravi, came to Bhopal in a white car, accompanied by a driver. He parked the car near their house and carried out the crime before fleeing the scene immediately. Based on CCTV footage, the photo of the car and the accused were shared with nearby districts, as well as the police stations near the residence of the accused and workplace.

Information was received that Yogesh and the car, along with the driver Mohit were surrounded and taken into police custody at the Pindrai outpost of the Nainpur police station in Mandla district. A separate team from Aishbagh Police Station was dispatched to Pindrai outpost in Mandla district to apprehend the accused. According to the police, the incident occurred around 11 am when Vinita opened the door for a maid who had come to do household chores. Yogesh, who was waiting outside, pushed the maid aside and entered the house, locking the door from inside. He then attacked Vinita and Megha with a knife, leaving them with severe injuries. The maid, who witnessed the incident, ran out of the house and informed the neighbours, who in turn called the police. The police team, along with a forensic team and sniffer dogs, arrived at the scene and found the two women lying in a pool of blood. Vinita (30) and Megha (35) were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead by the doctors. The police have launched a manhunt for Yogesh, who is currently on the run.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Priyanka Shukla said that Vinita and Yogesh had been married for about 10 years and had been living separately for the past five-six years due to marital disputes. Yogesh is currently posted as an ASI in Mandla district. The police have obtained CCTV footage of Yogesh leaving the house with a bag containing the knife used in the crime. The footage shows him walking out of the house with a calm demeanour, suggesting that he had planned the attack in advance. Megha, who was a resident of Baihar, had been living with her sister Vinita in a rented flat in Aishbagh. She had completed her education from MH College in Jabalpur and had described herself as an Assistant Director on her Facebook profile. The police are currently investigating the motive behind the crime and are searching for Yogesh, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. The incident has sent shockwaves through the city, with many demanding justice for the two victims.
