Protesting against the alleged illegal appointment of Professor Rajesh Kumar
Verma on the post of Vice-Chancellor of Rani Durgavati University, the members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) adopted a strange way on Tuesday.
The protest was staged under the leadership of NSUI State Spokesperson, Rahul Rajak and State Secretary, Anuj Yadav. They carried a donkey to conduct an inspection in the university campus.
This protest was a symbolic protest against Professor Rajesh Kumar Verma, who allegedly got the appointment by using money power, ignoring merit.
However, the police jawans forcefully stopped the donkey before the workers could enter the administrative building from the main gate of the university. During this, there was a clash between the workers and the police.
District President Sachin Rajak alleged that the Vice-chancellor’s appointment is not only fake, but it also makes a mockery of the standards of higher education.
He demanded Professor Verma’s resignation from the post of Vice-chancellor.
The NSUI also raised question that on what basis will a person, whose appointment to the original post itself is against the rules of the University Grants Commission, be able to run the university according to the regulations of the University Grants Commission.
He continued that making people the supreme
authority of the university through manipulation, becomes a major obstacle in the smooth functioning of the university.
He demanded a transparent investigation and action against the culprits, so that quality can be ensured in higher education. The organization demanded the immediate resignation of the Vice Chancellor and warned that if their demands are not heeded, the agitation will be intensified.
