RAIPUR,
RMC Leader of Opposition Minal Choubey sharply criticised the Mayor for his failure to deliver on promises of development over the past five years, calling his recent statements ‘baseless’ and ‘a result of frustration’. Choubey claimed that while development work is finally gaining momentum under the BJP-led Government, the Mayor’s ineffective leadership and unfounded claims have hindered progress.
“During the Congress rule, the Mayor did nothing for the city. For five years, he failed to
provide even basic necessities to the people of Raipur,” Choubey stated. “Now, when the
BJP Government has come
to power and development work is underway, the Mayor is making irrelevant and desperate comments.”
Choubey specifically addressed the Mayor’s recent comments about the four MLAs and ministers of Raipur allegedly running the Municipal Corporation.
His leadership has been marked by corruption, incompetence and now he is
fluttering with frustration as the city’s development begins to
take shape.
On the topic of Chowpatty, Choubey stated, “the Mayor is now trying to deflect attention from his failures by pointing fingers at the Chowpatty situation, but the truth is that the Chowpatty was built illegally, under the Mayor’s patronage, in the name of a ‘Youth Hub.’ The businessmen who invested there have been cheated by the Mayor,” Choubey remarked.
Addressing the Mayor’s remarks about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Choubey criticised his attempts to undermine the initiative. “The Mayor is making baseless accusations about PMAY. The truth is that he does not want the poor to have permanent homes.
The second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is under
way, with surveys being conducted to determine eligibility for beneficiaries,” she explained. “The Mayor should not make light of the poor people of
Raipur, who are eagerly waiting for their homes.”
