Ghoshal made her Bollywood debut with the 2002 film Devdas, which had many iconic song.
This dream debut received immense praise and established Ghoshal as a powerhouse of talent in playback singing.
She won her first National Award as well as Filmfare Award for Devdas. She became one of the youngest singers to win a National Award when she was only 22 years old. Ever since, every song of hers has been more than a composition, where she delicately weaves a tapestry of ‘melodious creations’, one line at a time.
In her legacy of 22 years in Bollywood, Ghoshal has been bestowed with the National Award more than five times for timeless classics such as ‘Pihu Bole’ (Parineeta) and ‘Yeh Ishq Haye’ (Jab We Met). She has ‘sung’ her way into the hearts of millions. Shreya Ghoshal’s mastery in acing diverse genres is commendable. This ability to transition between styles solidifies her place as a household name and one of the most versatile artists in India.
The artist has a wide linguistic range, having sung in over 20 languages. These include her mother tongue-Bengali, Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Assamese & others. She has recorded 2,400 plus songs, with 1100+ in Hindi alone!
Through her interviews, Ghoshal has shared various insights, one of which is her success mantra- “Don’t calculate; go with the flow”. She believes that authenticity and staying grounded resonate more with the audience. In another interview, Ghoshal explained that she evolved as a singer by drawing emotions in her songs and embodying the meaning of the lyrics. Her humility shines as she accepts her praise from senior artists with graceful modesty. One such incident was when she was appreciated as a “singer with culture” by Padma Shri Anuradha Paudwal.
Shreya’s recognition and fan base know no geographical boundaries. The shows of her recently launched concert, ‘All Hearts Tour’ have been running successfully in India and across the world in countries like the USA, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
