Registering strong objection on bifurcation of Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU), National Students Union of India (NSUI) has submitted a memorandum addressing to Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel to the Divisional Commissioner, on Wednesday. Under the leadership of District President, NSUI, Sachin Rajak, a large number of NSUI members assembled at the office of Divisional Commissioner to register their protest. District President Rajak informed that after Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University established in 2011, the State Government assigned it to operate paramedical and nursing courses which were earlier run by the traditional universities in the State.
As these traditional universities neither had the technical expertise to successfully run the courses nor they have it today. Despite being aware of this aspect, higher authorities have decided to reassign traditional universities to run these technical courses, which is completely illogical. Simultaneously, MP Medical Science University which was established after spending funds in crores and remained in controversy soon after its establishment, is being bifurcated, which is another illogical move of the State Government. If the university is bifurcated and the nursing and paramedical courses are handed over to the regional universities, then the Medical Science University will left with only 70 affiliated colleges whose present strength is around 600 across the State. In such scenario, it is cleared that the State Government intentionally tries to deduct the power and approach of the Medical Science University.
Rajak further said that Medical Science University is an important institution not only for Jabalpur but for the entire Madhya Pradesh. It has it’s own share in the progress and development of Jabalpur. The State Government intentionally plays with the future of present medical students by snatching Medical Science University from Jabalpur. He warned to stage aggressive protest if the State Government continues with it’s ill motives. State Vice-president, Saurabh Gautam, Rahul Rajak, Abhishek Dahija and others were present.
