Ajni Railway Station is soon going to be equipped with travelators. It will also be first-of-its-kind facility within Indian Railways, as Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) is set to give new shape to popular western entrance of the station. Travelators, numbering six, would be available on the two foot overbridges (FoB) that would stretch across platform 1 to 7 and also for the comfort of travellers who would need to travel on first floor to reach the other end of platform. The Rs 300 crore project of Ajni Station redevelopment has gathered pace and from February 15 onwards, the old building, constructed in 60’s, will be levelled to make way for new G+3 structure. The new building is necessary as railways is constructing a second entrance to Ajni Railway Station wherein new entrance is being provided from Eastern side. For the same, a G+3 structure is under construction. Thus, both the entrances would have new swanky structures in tune with modern times and most of all, they are going to have all requisite facilities to ensure Divyang do not face trouble while entering or exiting the station.

So, when the new building comes-up along with new FoBs, the old building of Ajni Station on Western end would not meet the needs of today’s times. Hence, a new building is being commissioned on the Western side also. While the ground floor would have wide open space, first floor would house the office of railways, including that of Station Master and other departments. The second and third floor would have lounges and waiting area for the travellers. Retiring rooms are also planned on the upper floors as Ajni station is being developed as satellite terminal station. With Nagpur Railway Station already over crowded, new services and some existing terminating trains would be relocated to Ajni Station which will have all the modern amenities, said the railway officers overlooking the execution of the project. Already, Construction Organisation of Central Railway is busy construction four additional platform for catering to future needs.

They would be high level platform that would ensure that no gap remains when the trains halt. Already, work on removing the old structure on the western end of station has started that has inconvenience the travellers. The new buildings on Eastern and Western side are going to be ready by 2025. A dome, that was added previously to provide a swanky look to the rustic old building of Ajni station on western side would also be removed in days to come. Meanwhile, to facilitate pulling down of old building, the current ticket booking office has been shifted 200 meters on Wardha end of the Ajni station. Also, the office of Station Master, that of Commercial Department and RPF are also temporarily housed in temporary structure created adjoining parking arena at the station campus.
