State Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya chaired a meeting of senior officials and discussed issues related to city’s development at Circuit House, on Friday. During the meeting, he stressed upon the need to focus on ensuring that drain water is not released into river Narmada and urged completion of ongoing works of sewage treatment plant before enforcement of election code of conduct. Vijayvargiya informed that provisions are being made in the budget for urban forests hence encourage promotion of tourism in these areas. He emphasised on importance of every person planting trees. He asked for proper fencing while developing Dumna Nature Park. He also highlighted the need to work towards making the city clean and beautiful.
Vijayvargiya asked to ensure cleanliness at such a level to beat Indore. He also asked to accept the challenge in the direction of cleanliness. He suggested that Jabalpur, cultural capital, should work towards the theme of a green city and a clean city. He called for development of a culture of cleanliness among people, imposing penalties where there is dirt and rewarding those who demonstrate excellence in cleanliness in markets or neighborhoods. The State Urban Administration Minister urged public cooperation in making the city clean and tidy. He stated that if traffic signals are to be installed at Deendayal Chowk for better traffic facilitation, the square will need to be made smaller.
If signals are not to be installed, the square should be kept larger. Those who attended the meeting were MLA Ajay Vishnoi, Sushil Tiwari, Jagat Bahadur Singh, along with Divisional Commissioner Abhay Verma, IG Anil Kumar Kushwaha, Collector Deepak Saxena, DIG T K Vidhyarthi, SP Aditya Pratap Singh, Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav, CEO of JDA Deepak Vaidya and others.
