The demand for grants for the fiscal year 2024-25 of various departments, including the Police Department, Home Department, Jail, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Science and Technology Department and Technical Education and Employment Department, was approved via voice vote during the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly session on the 11th day of the Budget session, held on Tuesday. Discussions regarding the remaining demands for grants under the purview of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma’s departments were concluded on Tuesday. Participating in the deliberations on the demands for grants related to his departments, Dy CM announced several initiatives. These included the formulation of a master plan for villages with over 3,000 residents, which would be handed over to the Panchayats for implementation. Additionally, the Mahtari Sandan programme would be implemented in over 11,000 Panchayats across State. The ‘Hamar Chhattisgarh’ Yojana is slated for re-launch to facilitate visits by Panchayat representatives to the State Capital.
Addressing concerns raised in the House, Dy CM Sharma highlighted efforts to address issues such as the construction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the resumption of payments for Self Help Welfare Groups of Rural Industrial Parks. He also emphasised the government’s commitment to tackling the Naxal problem and announced measures to bolster security in affected regions. Furthermore, Sharma outlined plans to enhance facilities in jails, establish Mahila police stations in every district, and launch initiatives such as the Science City Centre in Raipur and the Chhattisgarh Rojgar Application to aid unemployed youth.
In addition to these announcements, Sharma shared insights into ongoing schemes and future plans, including the Niyad Nellanar Scheme and initiatives to support security personnel operating in Naxal-affected areas. Earlier, Congress MLA Ramkumar Yadav, BJP MLA Dharamjeet Singh, Congress MLA Dwarkadheesh Yadav, BJP MLA Dharamlal Kaushik, Congress MLA Sangeeta Sinha, BJP MLA Sushant Shukla, BJP MLA Prabodh Minj, Congress MLA Harshita Swami Baghel, Congress MLA Raghvendra Kumar Singh, Congress MLA Kunwar Singh Nishad and other MLAs participated in the discussion. The Congress MLAs opposed the demand for grants of the Dy CM’s departments. The Congress MLAs said in the House that the law and order situation in the state has become pathetic under the BJP rule.
