As part of the initiative, a cleanliness workshop was organized at a school in Veerangana Avanti Bai Ward, Tilhari, on Tuesday. During the programme a cleanliness rally and street play, aiming to spread awareness among school students, local residents, shopkeepers and citizens was organized in the vicinity. Through the medium of street plays and rallies, the participants apprised the public about importance of cleanliness and they also administered an oath to maintain cleanliness.
The team of JMC officials and employees, the students, local residents, shopkeepers and surrounding residents were educated about the hazards of single-use plastics and diseases associated with them. The cleanliness drive encouraged everyone to contribute towards keeping various areas of the school premises clean. Likewise, people were also motivated to dispose of waste in the municipal waste collection vehicles, especially single-use plastics and waste generated from their homes and shops.
Similarly, during the cleanliness rally, an appeal was made to handover waste, particularly single-use plastics and waste from homes and shops to the garbage collection vehicles of the Municipal Corporation.
