Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is conducting Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) examination (Class XII) is beginning on Wednesday. Like last year, District administration has taken all necessary precautions to have copy-free examination. In Nagpur division, 1,63,017 students will be writing the examination, which is more by 7,104 as compared to the number of students who appeared last year--1,55,913. The number of examination centres have been raised too. Last year, there were 484 centres, which have been raised to 498 this year. HSC examination will begin on Wednesday, February 21, and will conclude on March 11. A circular from the Board stated that students, whose session starts at 11 am, should reach their respective rooms by 10.30, while those who are appearing for the 3 pm slot, should be at the centre by 2.30 pm. Students reaching after the distribution of question papers will not be allowed to enter.

There are 13 flying squads for Nagpur division comprising six districts including Chandrapur, Gondia, Bhandara, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Nagpur. The State Board is determined to conduct the examination in a fair manner. It has taken several steps to have error-free, copy-free examination, the responsibility for which has been given to the district administration. Collector Dr Vipin Itankar had already convened a meeting wherein he told the officials that if any case of mass copying or unfair means found during examinations, the concerned Centre Heads, Head Master or teachers would be held responsible and action would be taken against them.
 
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, Dr Itankar said, “We have instructed Board officials to take measures like last year. Because of these measure, the examination could be held in a free and fair manner. Photocopy centres situated within 100 metres of examination centres will not be allowed to function to avoid the attempt from any miscreants regarding the circulation of question papers or other activities can be avoided. Some students go into depression during examination. To bring them out of the negative thoughts, Board has appointed counsellors who will guide students if needed.” Students or parents are not expected to ask counsellors about examination details like examination centre, sitting arrangement or examination system.
