A chaotic situation erupted during the physical examination for recruitment of the post of Forest Guards (Group A) in the Forest Department on Thursday. Some candidates who appeared for the physical examination, which was held at MIHAN, started demanding details of their running examination and alleged that the Department had not maintained transparency in the process. According to some parents present outside the examination site, asked the forest officials about the results of their children, which the officials refused to provide at the venue.

The Nagpur Forest Department is conducting the recruitment process for 277 posts of Forest Guards. Around 30,000 candidates applied for the posts. The Department’s recruitment drive has been scheduled from February 21 to 25. As part of the recruitment process, candidates are required to complete one 3 km run and one 5 km run. On Thursday, around 5,000 candidates participated in the physical examination.

Some parents started blaming the Department for conducting the process under hot weather. The Forest Department has denied the allegations made by candidates and their parents. Some parents also alleged that the meal providing to the candidates at the venue is also not up to the mark whereas others found no issue in the meal. The forest department is conducting this recruitment for the post of guards after more than two years and the department had lot of backlog in recruitment. Therefore, a large number of candidates applied for this recruitment rally which will conclude on February 25.

No scope for manipulation in the recruitment process: Forest Deptt

Nagpur Forest Department denied all allegations made by the candidates and some parents who agitated against the process that is underway in MIHAN on Thursday. “The running test is conducted through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) process in which there is no chance of manipulation. The recruitment of Police Department also takes place through RFID process,” Bharat Singh Hada, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Nagpur told The Hitavada.
“The RFID technology is so precise that it can count the milliseconds of every candidate after the run. We are announcing the time of race of every candidate after the process. All the forest circles in Maharashtra and other states are also using the same technology for their recruitment,” said Hada.

Rejecting the claim of conducting the race under hot weather, Hada said, “To avoid the heat, we have distributed the process of recruitment in two phases. The timing for the morning session is between 6.45 am and 11 am and the evening session starts from 4 pm to 6 pm. The main objective to conduct the process in two phases is just to avoid the afternoon time.”
