647th Jayanti of Sant Guru Ravidas celebrated with fervor

The 647th Jayanti of Sant Guru Ravidas was celebrated with great fervor in the city, on Saturday. Ravidas Samaj and Gwarighat Ravidas Ashram Samiti took out a grand procession. More than 100 idols of Sant Ravidas, got installed in different parts of the city and 35 tableaus, depicting national and international scenarios, the current state of the country and the life sketches of great personalities were the major attraction of the procession. The international Shyam Band presented a melodious performance, accompanied by traditional Dhol, Dhamal, dance forms such as tribal dances from the Mandla district, captivated people. A dance performance by a group of 30 women from the tribal community further enthralled the spectators.
 
The main procession commenced from Sindhi Camp Bhantalaiya to Ambedkar Chowk. Several MLAs, Corporators other public representatives and social workers participated in the procession. Community people welcomed them with shawls, and garlands. Likewise, symposiums were organized at various locations and devotional songs were sung. Cultural programs and award ceremonies were also organised, with both young and old showcasing their talents.
 
During the programmes, speakers emphasized Sant Ravidas' message of uniting society under a common thread, promoting a unique blend of devotion and service to reach the divine. They said his teachings encouraged serving society and transcending the physical self to focus on the spiritual. They said Sant Ravidas' teachings remain highly relevant and inspiring. Even today, we draw inspiration and guidance from his profound wisdom. He was a visionary who advocated social harmony and unity. Through his words and actions, he imparted the values of mutual love and brotherhood to the general public.
