Over 500 volunteers/members of Sant Nirankari Mandal cleaned the banks of river Narmada and surrounding areas under ‘Swachh Jal Swachh Mann’ initiative of the Project Amrit, on Sunday. The special campaign began at 8 am at the Ayurvedic College premises with volunteers invoking the Nirankari prayer song. The “Amrit Project” campaign was distributed in 7 zones. As many as 120 volunteers cleaned the river banks in Jilharighat, in Umaghat, Darogaghat, Navghat and Siddhghat 157 volunteers rendered services to make banks of the pious river clean.
Likewise, on other side of the river, 35 volunteers worked to remove deep mud and debris to keep the water pollution-free. Similarly, from Ratnaka to Saket Dham, a stretch leading to Darogaghat, 90 volunteers contributed to cleanliness and from Jhanda Chowk to Gaurighat, 60 volunteers worked to keep the area dirt free. With the assistance of the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, 15 garbage trucks were obtained, making about 40 trips to collect and dispose of waste. The Jabalpur branch of Sant Nirankari Mandal also conducted awareness campaigns at prominent locations of the river banks, displaying hoardings promoting messages such as ‘Clean Water, Pure Mind,’ ‘Save Water, Save Tomorrow,’ and ‘Polluted Water is Our Loss.’
The main objective of the campaign was to raise awareness among the public about options for conserving water bodies, ensuring that future generations are provided with a healthy environment. With the blessings of Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj and Rajpita Ramit Ji, the second phase of Amrit Project was successfully organized simultaneously in over 900 cities from about 1500 locations across 27 states and union territories in the country.
