The Public Sector General Insurance (PSGI) employees all over India held pre lunch one hour walk out strike under the banner of Joint Forum of Trade Unions (JFTU) and Associations to press for their long pending demands on February 28, 2024. The employees demanded the Government to hold discussions immediately on various issues like wage revision which are due from August 1, 2022, uniform 30% family pension, scrapping of National Pension System (NPS) and 1995 Pension Scheme for all, till then increase employer’s contribution to 14% in NPS, merger of public sector general insurance companies to strengthen them and adequate recruitment in all cadres.
 
At Nagpur, a large number of employees went on strike for an hour and gathered in front of Regional Office of United India Insurance Company Limited, situated at Shankar Nagar. The aggrieved employees shouted slogans for thair demands. They also showed their anguish against the indifferent attitude GIPSA. On the occasion, a meeting was conducted in which Arun Kulkarni, Swapnil Kohle, Anil Sakharkar and Vinod Sakhare addressed the gathering. The speakers criticised the Government and GIPSA management for not taking any decision on the legitimate demands of employees and appealed to them to unite and fight jointly. The meeting was conducted by Rohit Shivhare. Also, Chandrakant Deshpande, Deepak Gotmare, Omkar Shende and Sunil Tambe took efforts for the success of agitation.
