Public sector general insurance employees stage demonstrations

The Public Sector General Insurance (PSGI) employees held demonstrations under the banner of Joint Forum of Trade Unions and Associations (JFTU) in PSGI companies in front of the Regional Office of National Insurance Company Ltd situated at Sadar for their long pending demands on Wednesday. The aggrieved employees demanded immediate discussion on Wage Revision due from August 1, 2022, uniform 30% Family Pension, scrapping of National Pension System (NPS) and demanding 1995 Pension Scheme for all and till then increase employer’s contribution to 14% in NPS, merger of public sector general insurance companies for strengthening the companies and adequate recruitment in all cadres. After the demonstrations a gate meeting was organised. In the meeting, Vinod Sakhare of All India SC/ST Employees Parishad appealed to the employees to unite and struggle for their legitimate demands.
 
Prashant Dixit, General Secretary of General Insurance Employees’ Union, Western Zone informed about the meeting with Nirmala Sitaraman, Finance Minister of India with leaders of General Insurance Employees All India Association along with Binoy Vishwam, MP Rajya Sabha held on February 5, 2024. A memorandum of above mentioned demands was also submitted to the Finance Minister.He informed that the Joint Forum of Trade Unions and Associations has planned to intensify the struggle and decided to hold countrywide demonstrations on February 15 followed by dharna on February 21 at all Regional Centres and walk out strike on February 28, 2024. After the meeting, a memorandum addressed to the Chairman, General Insurance Employers (All India) Association (GIPSA) was submitted through the Chief Regional Manager of National Insurance Co Ltd.
 
Surendra Kamble of All India General Insurance SC/ST Employees Association conducted the meeting. Members of all the JFTU constituents from the offices of the city participated in the demonstrations and gate meeting. Vinay Karpe, Sheetal Bhopale, Gurudas Hemrajani, Mangesh Karanjkar, Omkar Shende Saurabh tatekar, Homraj Ade, Devendra Dhakate, Pankaj Sawalkar, Yogesh Junghare and others have taken efforts for the success of the meeting.
