Congress leaders while expressing their displeasure said the Mayor has discarded the ideology of Congress for personal gains by embracing the BJP and therefore, he is considered politically dead for the Congress. As a gesture of peace for his soul, a ritual was performed following the principles of Sanatan Dharma.
Seva Dal activists said if the Mayor still holds ethical values, he should resign from his position and contest elections again. They believe he has disrespected the public mandate, causing voters to feel betrayed. The activists lamented the Mayor’s switch of faithfulness, terming it unfortunate and symbol of his excessive personal ambition. They said despite the Congress party honored him and placed utmost trust in him, he ultimately betrayed that trust. Seva Dal members said Congress workers will continue to work for the party and strength it with full determination and energy.
