Forest team succeeded in apprehending one of the three accused involved in electrocution of an adult male tiger within 24 hours of the incident was reported, on Saturday. The arrested has been identified as Parasram Maravi, son of Naseeb Singh Maravi, a resident of Parsatola, Umardoni village while two other accused are still at large. Adult male tiger T-46 was killed by unidentified poachers and its carcass was found at Khapa range in Kareli village in buffer zone of Kanha Tiger Reserve.
 
Prima facie of the investigations confirmed that the tiger was electrocuted in a trap laid by poachers. Villagers first sight the carcass on March 8 and informed that Forest Department. Field Director of Kanha Tiger Reserve, SK Singh, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that taking a serious note into the case, investigation team comprised of dog squad started a search and apprehended one of the three accused involved in laying the electric trap. The accused are not habitual poachers but they are farmers. They stretched electric wire at their farm for its protection from wild boar but a tiger was electrocuted with the trap.
 
There was nothing missing from the carcass and its tooth, moustache, nails and other organs were untouched. On the other hand, team of veterinarians conducted autopsy of the carcass and preserved viscera for further scientific investigations. The carcass was set ablaze in presence of officers of Kanha Management, Field Director, Pench Tiger Reserve, Deputy Director, Kanha Tiger Reserve, Tehsildar Baihar, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Kareliand Assistant Director, Malajkhand and representative of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in the forest area according to standard operation procedure.
