A state-level Mahapanchayat programme is scheduled to be held at Science College Ground in Raipur on Monday, said Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma during a media briefing at the New Circuit House in the State Capital on Sunday evening. Participants in the programme will include Presidents, Vice Presidents of Jila Panchayats and Janpad Panchayats, as well as Sarpanchs and Deputy Sarpanchs of Gram Panchayats. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will be the chief guest, while Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil will preside over the function.
Deputy Chief Minister Sharma said that suggestions would be solicited from the Panchayat representatives, specifically focusing on inputs for Panchayat elections. A suggestion box will be provided during the state-level Mahapanchayat program for the elected Panchayat representatives to share their thoughts.
 
Deputy Chief Minister Sharma provided updates on various Government initiatives, including the provision of pucca houses to 18 lakh rural families, progress in housing construction, and the Prime Minister’s Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan. Regarding the Naxal issue, Deputy Chief Minister Sharma stated that the state government is open to dialogue with Naxalites, even using video calls if necessary. He also addressed concerns about fake encounters, emphasising the importance of maintaining the morale of security personnel in the face of Naxalite violence.
