Revaluation charges to be returned.. RTMNU’s decision for students if marks are raised

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has decided to return the charges of revaluation to the students whose marks are raised in the process. The decision is not new as it was taken by Management Council about 10 years ago, but this time, Dr Prashant Bokare, Vice Chancellor assured the Senate that the decision would be implemented. After the declaration of results, if students feel that they have received less marks than what they had expected, they apply for challenge to valuation. The issue of giving back the charges taken from these students was being discussed since long. When this issue came for discussion in the Senate that was held on Monday, Vishnu Changde pointed out that the decision was taken when he was in Management Council. He questioned as to why the decision wasn’t implemented?

 

Adv Manmohan Bajpai commented, “If the marks get increased in revaluation, it means student is not at fault. Then why should the students bear the cost. Secondly, University should clear that from which year the students would get the money back?” Ajay Agrawal suggested, “Initially, the students who applied for challenge to valuation for 2023 examination and got their marks increased should be given their fees back. Later on, the modus operendi can be chalked out.” Some Senate members raised the issue of procedure of returning money as the account numbers are not provided by the students. Nirbhay Sancheti suggested that most students operate their accounts through mobile and they usually do payment through UPI.

 

Money can be returned to them through the same modes, stated Sancheti. Dr Bokare said, “I am not aware as to why it was not implemented earlier. But we are very positive about giving back money to students because university is for students. Their welfare should get priority. Initially we will return money for Winter examination 2023. Later on a procedure would be chalked out, guidelines would be prepared and accordingly, money would be returned.”
