TAMIL Nadu’s main Opposition AIADMK on Wednesday finalised a seat sharing arrangement for the Lok Sabha polls with the DMDK, founded by actor-politician ‘Captain’ Vijayakanth who passed away recently.
Announcing the electoral pact here at the party headquarters here, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said the DMDK would contest from Tiruvallur (SC), Central Chennai, Cuddalore, Thanjavur and Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituencies. DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth described the AIADMK as a “natural ally”. She said that a “big victory alliance” has
again been formed, like the
one in 2011 for the Assembly polls. “This victory alliance will continue in 2026 Assembly polls also.”
RJD authorises Lalu to decide LS candidates, new allies: RASHTRIYA Janata Dal President Lalu Prasad was on Wednesday “authorised” to take a call on the party’s candidates for Lok Sabha polls, besides exploring the possibility of bringing in new allies.
This was announced by Abdul Bari Siddiqui, the RJD’s principal national general secretary, after meetings of the party’s State parliamentary party and national parliamentary party.
Meanwhile, RJD MP and national spokesperson Manoj Jha said seat sharing in Bihar will be finalised in a day or two, adding that talks are going well and in a positive direction. Talking to the media after meeting Congress General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, Jha said they have agreed on seat sharing to a great extent. “Agreement has been built to a great extent, things are on track, in a couple of days, everything will be cleared,” Jha told reporters.
Ex-MLA Majra rejoins INLD: FORMER Haryana MLA Rampal Majra rejoined the Indian National Lok Dal on Wednesday and was appointed the party’s State unit chief, a post lying vacant after Nafe Singh Rathee was shot dead in February. Majra joined the BJP ahead of the 2019 assembly elections and later quit the party during the farmers’ agitation against the now-repealed farm laws.
He rejoined the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in the presence of senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala here.
Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) declares candidates for three seats in UP: THE Apna Dal (Kamerawadi), claiming it to be an ally of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, on Wednesday declared candidates for three seats in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“A meeting of the Apna Dal (K) central executive committee was held under national president Krishna Patel. It has been decided in the meeting to contest three seats as part of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc,” Central office secretary Ram Sanehi Patel said in a statement issued here. Phulpur, Mirzapur and Kaushambi are the three seats on which the party has decided to contest.
Khariar MLA Adjiraj Panigrahi joins BJD: KHARIAR MLA Adjiraj Panigrahi joined the BJD on Wednesday, a day after quitting the Congress.
Panigrahi, a first-time legislator, joined the BJD along with his supporters at Sankha Bhawan, the party headquarters, in Bhubaneswar.
