After concluding Regional Industrial Conclave in Ujjain, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues, set out for Ayodhya to visit the Ram Mandir on Monday. Before leaving for Ayodhya, the Cabinet meeting was held at Bhopal. In a major move, State Government invited other states to build dharmshalas (lodging facilities) at prominent religious spots in the State for the visiting devotees. The Cabinet meeting began with Vande Matram and chaired by Dr Yadav. CM said that the Government will expedite the implementation of various decisions regarding the development of religious spots in MP. “Our Government will also make efforts to build a dharmshala (lodging facility) in Ayodhya for pilgrims of Madhya Pradesh.

We will also try to provide land to governments of other states for (constructing) dharmshalas at prominent religious places in MP for pilgrims from their states.” On enhancement of lodging facilities for pilgrims in Madhya Pradesh, he said, since a large number of people from various parts of the country visit the famous temples in Ujjain and Omkareshwar in MP, governments of other states can build dharmshalas at these spots. He proposed the formation of a Cabinet sub-committee to speed up the development of religious places by co-ordinating with various departments such as religious and endowments, revenue, and culture. “A sub-committee inter-linking the Revenue and Cultural departments will be formed to promote religious activities. The proposal has been made and a detailed discussion will be held during the next Cabinet meeting,” CM Yadav said.

This committee will oversee the development plans for temples and religious sites in rural and urban areas. All departments will ensure the implementation of development plans for these sites. “The Government is of the view that temples should also become the centres of social consciousness and harmony where functions like mass marriages could be organised,” Yadav added. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, accompanied by his Cabinet members, set out for Ayodhya on the same day for the darshan of Ram Lalla. He termed the Ayodhya visit a “very important occasion.” He says, “We are fortunate to be able to visit Ayodhya. It was our heartfelt wish to be able to visit Ayodhya with the entire Cabinet. We finished our agenda for today after which we have proceeded for Ayodhya. We have requested the Uttar Pradesh government to allot us land so that we can build a Dharamshala for the accommodation of devotees who travel from Madhya Pradesh.”
