Cleanliness campaign is being conducted in the district under the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission Scheme. During the cleanliness drive, community toilets have been constructed at a cost of 2.20 lakh Gram Panchayat Risama in the district. People started understanding this change and today the village is Open Defecation Free (ODF) village.
Garbage box has been kept for garbage collection from public places for cleanliness. In which Gram Panchayat Risama received a grant of Rs 20 lakh. Steel utensil banks have been established. Steel utensils are being used by rural people in place of single use plastic on social, religious, cultural events in the village. As a result, plastic waste has decreased in the form of dry waste.
 
Women Sarpanch Geeta Mahanandan said girls and women are informed about the use of sanitary pads and safe disposal during menstruation. Besides, vending machines have been installed in Government Secondary School Risama and Panchayat Bhawan. Due to which there is no inconvenience in the use and disposal of sanitary pads. For garbage collection, 2 tri-bicycles and 1 erickshaw have been kept. Every house toilet was built under Swachh Bharat Mission and awareness campaign was launched to make people aware for its use. Under this campaign, people were told about the harmful consequences of open defecation and the benefits of the use of toilets. Where every year there was an outbreak of cholera, diarrhea, water - borne diseases in this village, now the use of toilets has started to become negligible. The direct impact on his economic condition also started. Their economic condition has now improved compared to earlier.
