City’s Saraswati Vidyalaya Primary School received the coveted ‘Mukhyamantri Maajhi Shaala Sunder Shaala’ prize instituted by School Education Department of Maharashtra. The competition was initiated by the Department for all schools under all the boards in Maharashtra. Saraswati Vidyalaya was assessed and inspected at various levels by the top officials from Nagpur and Pune on various parameters. Along with digitalisation, the school has implemented structured programmes for curricular and co-curricular activities including certificate programmes for visual and performing arts, and coordination with international communities like UNESCO, FIM and T4. This is the only school selected from Nagpur division and finished second amongst all the schools in the private aided category in Maharashtra.
The school secured second position in the State. The school was presented a memento, certificate and Rs 15 lakh cash prize by Deepak Kesarkar, Minister of Education during a ceremony held at TATA performing centre, Mumbai. On behalf of South Indian Education Society and Saraswati Vidyalaya, President T K Venkatesh, Honourary Secretary V Meenakshi, Headmistress Resmi Umesh, teacher representatives Sonu Paraskar and Sai Prasad Umak received the award.
Principal Secretary of Education, Commissioner, Directors and Deputy Directors of all divisions of Maharashtra were present. Dr Ullas Narad, Deputy Director of Education, Nagpur also was present on the occasion. At the onset, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde appreciated the schools for implementing the State program effectively. Headmistress Resmi Umesh and the team of teachers thanked the Education Department, management of South Indian Education Society, primary committee chaired by V Shankaran, SIES Coordinator S Prabhuraman, HM Pushpa Anantanarayanan, Laxmi Srinivasan, AHM, Latha Raghunathan, Supervisor for their constant support.
