Rural Employment Assistant in Lokayukta net for taking bribe from Govt scheme beneficiary

Lokayukta Police, Jabalpur, trapped Rural Employment Assistant while taking bribe of Rs 20,000 for transferring payment to a beneficiary of Sambal Yojana at a restaurant in Katni, on Friday. The accused has been identified as Praveen Kumar Tiwari, posted as Rural Employment Assistant, Barkhera village in Katni district. According to Lokayukta Police Jabalpur, an appellant named Jeera Bai, wife of late Ittu Kol, a resident of Barkhera village in Katni, lodged a complaint at office of Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Jabalpur that she had applied for payment of Rs 2 lakh under Sambal Yojana after death of her husband. She several times contacted Rural Employment Assistant of Barkhera village, Praveen Kumar Tiwari who demanded bribe of Rs 20,000 for transferring the payment in her bank account.
Acting on the complaint, SP, Lokayukta constituted a team and fielded the appellant for collecting evidences when accused called the appellant at a restaurant to take the bribe amount. Once the information was confirmed a team of Lokayukta Police Jabalpur trapped the accused while taking bribe of Rs 20,000 from the appellant at a restaurant in Katni. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the corrupt Government employee under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act while further investigations are underway. The accused was trapped with active working of Lokayukta police team comprised of inspectors Swapnil Das, Manju Kiran and others.
