AFTER being shot out for a paltry score, Lipton Cricket Club fought back with quick wickets against Ministerial Services Sports Club (MSSC) on opening day of their DR MN Dorairajan Invitation Cricket Tournament league match at Citi Gymkhana ground on Monday. Put into bat, Lipton were all out for 122 in 37.5 overs but they bounced back reducing MSSC to 79-7 in 27.1 overs who still trail by 43 runs. Lipton’s Harsh Shankpal (49; 67b, 10x4) stood tall and was unlucky to miss his fifty by a whisker. MSSC seamer Nachiket Bhute (9.5-5-20-5) and left-arm spinner Gaurav Farde (12-4-32-3) who shred the new ball took eight wickets between them while Sooraj Rai picked two for 47 from his nine overs. MSSC also had poor start. Opener-stumper Shivam Deshmukh (30; 50b, 3x4, 1x6) and number five Ryan Rajput (25; 41b, 2x4, 1x6) scored in double digits. In-form all-rounder Bhute was batting on five when play ended. For Lipton, skipper Akshay Dullarwar (8.1-4-12-3) was pick of the bowlers. Ankush Tammiwar and Niraj Bobde took two and one wicket respectively.
