“In a significant stride towards educational excellence and holistic development, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM) is proud to announce its transformation into a self-financed Ramdeobaba University (RBU), effective from the academic session 2024-25,” informed Dr S S Mantha, an esteemed academician and visionary leader in the field of education and former Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), who has now taken the charge as the founding President/Chancellor of Ramdeobaba University (RBU). Dr Mantha was addressing a press conference at RBU on Tuesday. Dr Mantha brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. Dr Mantha’s specialisation in Robotics and his PhD in Combustion Modeling from the University of Mumbai attests to his academic prowess and commitment to innovation. “We are excited to embark on this new phase in our institution’s legacy. Ramdeobaba College has already been doing well. The status of University will add value to its excellence,” said Chancellor Prof Mantha.
“This institution is an autonomous one and running courses imparting technical education. We have added value to the existing ones. The emerging courses like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Cognitive Computing, Quantum Computing, Cyber Security, Information Security, Smart Systems, Cyber Physical System, E-Governance, Surface Transport, Geo Technology, Green Energy will be a part of RBU. Apart from that, BSc in Cyber Security, BSc in Computer Science, BSc in Cloud Computing, MBA (AI and ML), MBA (Fintech), MBA (Supply Chain and Analytics), MBA (Maritime Technology and Analytics), MBA (Aviation and Analytics) etc have been added to the present kitty, informed Prof Mantha.
“Along with introducing new courses, RBU will give special attention to students’ performance and enhancement in the quality of teaching. We are not competing with any other institutions as we will chart our own course,” Prof Mantha further said. “For the admission purposes, the University will have its own Common Entrance Test (CET). At the same time, it will accommodate the students coming through the CET conducted by Government. Nobody will be at loss,” Prof Mantha made it clear. “The institute is geared up for implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) in its right spirit. The 4-year programmes, entry, exit systems and introducing inter-disciplinary and multidisciplinary courses,” said Dr Mantha.
RBU will have its online portal where the courses for working professionals will be run. Prof Mantha elaborated on this issue, “There are working professionals who want to study but don’t get time to go for higher studies. This online portal will help them in continuing their studies. Not only our faculties but experts from outside will also deliver lectures online.” Satyanarayan Nuwal, Chairman of the sponsoring body Shri Ramdeobaba Sarvajanik Samiti, informed mediapersons about the excellent placement record, response to admissions, the high rating of the institute.
Rajendra Purohit, General Secretary of the Samiti stated, “We have 180 PhD holders and we emphasise more on research. In last year, we received grant on 90 plus patents while we have applied for 250 plus patents.” Dr Rajesh Pande, Acting Vice-Chancellor of RBU and other faculty members were present.
