Straphangers of the city had a tough time on Wednesday amid the arrival and roadshow of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At several places, traffic congestion were observed whereas preferred to stay at home, in order to avoid the bustling lines of traffic and to be prevented from traffic diversions. The city encountered a tumultuous chaos during the peak hours of the day while at the warmers hours in the afternoon, the people wearing saffron robes outnumbered the pedestrians and two and four wheelers in the city. In the evening too, as the time of the road show came nearer, the supporters of the BJP thronged the roads making the situation dire strait for the commuters. Daily commuters from Lal Parade Ground and other parts of the city including Nanke Petrol Pump, Roshanpura Square and others.

 

The areas of the city were decked up with barricading all around the road giving a hard time to the commuters. “There was a problem on Wednesday since there were a lot of traffic diversions in the city. The areas near Raja Bhoj Airport and New Market seemed to me like garrison towns.” Rajesh, a cab driver told. He further mentioned that he had a tough time on Wednesday since he suffered from the problem of reaching to customers due to various traffic diversions. A office employee, on the condition of anonymity told that he took an off from his office since the routes were blocked. “I travel through public transport. In the morning, I was unable to find any transport and had to take off for Wednesday. “ He told The Hitavada.

 

At several places, people faced unwanted delays since they got stuck in the jams which arose due to the use of alternative roads. It was also observed that people in the city were frustrated since they had to bear unnecessary horns of the traffic and took comparatively longer time in reaching their destination. It is noteworthy that the city witnessed the roadshow of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday who was accompanied by senior leaders of the state unit of the party. On the information of roadshow, the traffic police had issued an advisory, where route diversions were prescribed.
