Railways have a pleasant surprise for the people involved in daily up down in long distance trains, with detail planning of Vande Metro Train. This is the shorter version of Vande Bharat Express trains providing service to the urban commuters covering distance up to 200 kilometres. These trains will be connecting the urban cities with nearby districts. According to the Railways proposal, in first phase Vande Metro train will be scheduled for Bhopal to Betul, Sagar and Shajapur routes. In its first phase of the project, railway will be covering stations in 200 kilo meter of areas. Speed of this train is expected around 100 to 120 kmph. However, fare price of this train may cost higher. Officials of railway said that that proposal is made to keep the fare either equal to the sleeper coach of a normal train or maximum 15 per cent hike. Sources said that fare price of Vande Bharat Express train is higher in comparison to other normal trains.

 

Following the pattern, Vande Metro Trains is expected to be costlier than that current charges of passenger trains on the route. Senior Commercial Manager, Bhopal Railway, Saurabh Kataria said that board level work is being done to launch Vande Metro Train to cover the short distance at faster speed. He said that detail plan will be revealed soon for the passenger. Proposal for Madhya Pradesh route has been sent to the Railway board and final decision will be taken after the trial in July. Vande Metro train will have sitting arrangement for all and around 80 per cent seats will be allowed for reservation. For the remaining 20 per cent seats, one can get ticket from the station or online mobile UTS application. Trial of this train is expected to begin in July 2024, followed by the subsequent testing of sleeper variant. In first phase, Vande Metro trains will be connecting three cities in MP.
