Taking the Government at cross hairs over the nursing scandal, the media unit incharge of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) slammed the State Government addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Thursday. While addressing, he alleged, “The way in which the State has sidelined the directions of the Nursing Council of India is not seen anywhere in the country. The colleges are running without any building. There are no laboratories, library and hospitals but still the colleges are running. In reality, there are just running on paper and are only visible to those who created their inspection reports.” Nayak said that on the orders of the High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was given the charge of probing into the matter, but the CBI officials are also being caught taking bribe of Rs 10 lakh. With this, the State has become the first state in the country where those who were bestowed the responsibility of investigating into the matter have been arrested even before the arrest of the mastermind of the scandal. He also demanded for an independent investigation into the matter under the sitting judge of the high court.

Nayak said that never in the history this has been heard that a single professor or assistant professor is teaching at eight different locations. Not just limited to that these professor are even registered in other parts of the state too and his/her name can be also found on the portal of the government. This means that the government admits that a single individual can teach at eight different locations at the same time. Even the high court was surprised that those who are even unaware of the building blocks of nursing are being permitted to sit in exams. Calling it unfortunate, he said that there are several colleges which are under the patronage of political leaders and are degrading the future of the country. Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Hemant Katare said that at a time when the state has not even come out of the Vyapam scam, another scam has emerged in the state. The leaders of our party were sent to jail over fighting for justice for the needy, false cases were registered against them. But on the other hand, the CBI officers were found talking over call to someone while in the custody.

The government should explain its intention about giving protection to the accused. “After the arrest of the CBI officials and directors of the nursing colleges, Madhya Pradesh Nursing Registration Council issued a list for the nomination of the students from 132 nursing colleges, but it also includes those colleges also, whose directors have been arrested. Due to the ill intentions of those involved in the scam, the future of lakhs of nursing students of the state has gone into dark and the government is still providing political backing to the accused even after such serious comments by the high court.” Ravi Parmar, Coordinator, medical wing of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) said while addressing. Spokesperson of the party including Ravi Saxena, Vivek Tripathi and Aparajita Pandey were also present during the press conference.
